This condition is often seen on the nose and is called rhinophyma.
What causes Rosacea? The exact cause of rosacea is unknown and unproven. There is little doubt however that certain foods and stress seem to trigger rosacea in people.
What treatments are available for rosacea? There is no cure for rosacea but there is medical help that can control the signs and symptoms of rosacea. It is important to get treatment as rosacea will worsen if let untreated.

Treatments: Fotofacials/photofacials: The Sciton BBL is a broadband light technology offer the best treatments for rosacea, particularly the redness of the skin. They use light to penetrate the epidermis to target the capillaries in the dermal layer of the skin. The light is absorbed by the oxy-hemoglobin which heat up the capillary, damaging them, causing them to be absorbed by the body’s natural defense system.
Multiple treatments are necessary and fotofacials may even eliminate the redness completely. Periodic treatments will be necessary to remove newly formed capillaries.
Medications: Oral and topical antibiotics may be prescribed to relieve the papules, pustules, inflammation and some redness. Vitamin A in low dosages is also proven to be effective.
